Biography

Ashley Maddison is the Managing Attorney of the Housing Justice Program at Rutgers Law School in Camden. Founded in 2021, this program represents South Jersey tenants facing eviction, housing instability, and habitability issues, while providing valuable experiential learning opportunities for law students and recent graduates. Ms. Maddison is especially interested in the essential role of safe, stable housing in enabling families and communities to thrive.

Prior to law school, Ms. Maddison worked for social service nonprofits in New Jersey, Washington, DC, and Texas. Upon graduation from Rutgers Law School in 2019, she started her legal career as an Equal Justice Works Fellow with the medical-legal partnership between Rutgers Law School and the Camden Coalition of Healthcare Providers.

In her personal life, Ms. Maddison is a foster and adoptive parent. She also serves on the New Jersey Resource Parent Advisory Committee. This committee functions as a liaison between resource parents and the Department of Children and Families, advocating for policy changes to improve the lives of children in foster care and the adults who love and nurture them in any form.
